Four-way steel roller fairlead for winches running steel cable. The rollers let the cable enter at a sharp angle without dragging over a fixed edge, which protects both the cable and the winch drum during off-centre pulls - the norm rather than the exception in real recoveries.

Anodised red aluminium hawse fairlead for winches running synthetic rope. The polished radius guides the rope onto the drum from any angle without the sharp edges or pinch points that shred synthetic line - which is exactly why roller fairleads must never be used with rope.
