Red synthetic winch rope 12 mm x 50 m with hook
A 50 m length of 12 mm synthetic plasma winch rope, finished with a hook. The safety case for synthetic is simple: it stores very little energy under tension, so if it parts it falls to the ground instead of whipping back through the air.

Fitting and care
Synthetic rope must run through a hawse fairlead – roller fairleads have edges and pinch points that will cut it. Keep the rope away from hot exhaust components, wind it back onto the drum under light tension so the wraps bed evenly, and rinse mud and grit out after a wet recovery.
Safety
Always lay a recovery damper over the line during a pull, keep bystanders well outside the danger zone, and never step over a loaded line.
