A rated steel bow shackle for joining winch ropes, tree savers and recovery straps. The shackle is the connection everything else hangs off, so it is the one item in a recovery kit worth buying rated rather than guessing – an unrated hardware-store shackle can fail well below its apparent size.

How to use it correctly
- Screw the pin fully home, then back it off a quarter turn so it cannot seize under load
- Never replace the pin with a bolt – the pin is part of the rating
- Load the shackle through the bow, not sideways across the pin
- Retire any shackle that is bent, cracked, or has a pin that no longer turns freely
Safety
Never exceed the working load. Always lay a recovery damper over the line during a pull, keep bystanders well outside the danger zone, and never step over a loaded line.
